I do not consider myself a freelancer as I am continuously working on a project for one company or another. I am a professional wedding and portfolio photographer/videographer and retoucher. I design, coordinate, film, edit, and VFX music videos. I design and create CD and DVD covers and inserts as well as doing the final layout for printing.
I took the jump into Maya when time schedules did not permit me to photograph a real model for a project. From there I began designing my own backgrounds, and then naturally one wants to learn animation after that. I've been feeding the authors at Gnomon for many months with the purchases of all their training materials. (smile)
A natural progression has taken me in to putting the entire process together - from writing, to developing, designing, creating VFX, compositing, and then rendering the final project. In understanding the entire working process I've been better able to work with companies and provide them with the best product or design for their needs.
Currently I'm also speaking at writer's conferences and giving classes on 'resume makeovers' and 'marketing yourself.' This allows me to continue to take and purchase tutorials from my mentors and keep honing my skills and abilities.
